Winemaker’s comments

The unique geography and meso-climate of Marananga gives rise to wines that express terroir. These wines are opulent and deliver a wine tasting experience laced with fruit and layered with textures that have a real sense of place. With Tscharke’s new devotion to promote Marananga as the champion behind our elite range of single vineyard estate grown and made wines we hope consumers will gain a better access to some of the most exquisite, saturated wines not only of Barossa Valley but possibly the world.

Marananga is such a small sub appellation of Barossa, yet such a big part of many of the greatest wines to come from Barossa. Tscharke have recognised the potential of the vineyards and wines from Marananga and so have figured making wines at the top, is not a bad place to be.

20% whole bunch, remainder of the fruit was lightly crushed and destemmed into a 6 tonne open top fermenter. Hand plunged 2-3 times a day and foot stomped once during the second week of fermentation. The wine was pressed using basket press and aged in seasoned French Puncheons (500L) for twelve months.
