Winemaker’s comments

Ernest Hill is one of only four or five vineyards in the Hunter Valley growing the Traminer variety. The Ernest Hill Traminer vines are 35 years old, grafted onto Shiraz root stock, and produce an aromatic wine with intense fruit flavours. Maisie Evelyn was mother and grandmother to the Wilson family. The grapes for the Maisie Evelyn are picked early with a higher acid level and moderate levels of sugar, producing a wine which is not overly sweet but displaying the sweetness of lychees and a subtle hint of rosewater spice – Turkish Delight in a bottle!

So don’t be frightened to fire up the chilli factor – this wine is a perfect partner for screaming hot Thai Jungle curries down to ‘asbestos-proof’ Indian Vindaloos!
