2013 Juniper Crossing Chardonnay

Halliday 91/100

Color, nose and palate

A beautiful example of a contemporary Chardonnay showing a lovely mix of floral citrus blossom, stone fruit and melon plus spice and vanilla from the French oak. The textural palate is balanced with fine stone fruit, citrus and melon flavours with a smooth juicy feel in the mouth and a lingering clean finish provided by the natural acidity.

Cellaring potential:This finer style of modestly oaked Chardonnay works wonderfully well in Margaret River and under screw cap closure will drink well for at least 5 years.

Winemaker’s comments

The 2013 vintage has been added to the string of excellent vintages we have had in Margaret River since 2007. The summer was warm and dry which brought on the flavour development about 1 week early. Due to this rapid ripening of flavour, the acid levels stayed relatively high allowing for wines with ripe flavours but with lovely fine mineral acidity. Grapes for the Juniper Crossing Chardonnay were grown on our Forest Grove vineyard in the southern part of Margaret River.
