Fortified Durif, made in a similar way to vintage port. Idea is to reinvent what we know Vintage Port to be in Australia. Wine often compared to Banyuls (French) style wine. This sweetish red dessert wine shows a clean palate (not cloying) and lower than expected alcohol, in keeping balance with Durif grapes harvested around 14Be. Rather than picking fruit later for ripe characters, freshness of fruit flavour and red berry profile is key. The sweetness in the wine is natural and a neutral spirit used to fortify.
