Description
Fortified Brown Muscat. Leaf taken from the French (Beaumes de Venise region) in looking at variety as a lighter style. However this is a uniquely Australian take. on the concept (sweeter, riper). Conceptually we wanted to showcase Brown Muscat grapes (traditional for Rutherglen) in a youthful, fresh way. No need to sit back and sip late at night, versatility with food matches and time to enjoy is part of the appeal.
Hand picked, de-stemmed into concrete fermenter, ferments for a few days whilst being hand plunged. When desired level of sweetness approaches as ferment converts available natural sugars to alcohol, must is basket pressed, then wine is fortified with neutral spirit. Ageing occurs in stainless steel to help spirit integrate with wine, then product bottled within 12 months of harvest.
