Their wines display all the finesse and complexity for which the Adelaide Hills wine region is renowned, yet they also exhibit a striking individuality reflective of their special terroir and viticultural practices. Their vines are rooted in a loamy mix of blue slate, quartz and ironstone, and they benefit from their meticulous canopy management and yield control regimen.
The Winery is owned and operated by Larry Jacobs (former founder/ owner of renowned Mulderbosch Vineyards in Stellenbosch, South Africa) and Marc Dobson.
For the past four years they have been farming the vineyards at Hahndorf Hill biodynamically and believe this is a good way to be able to ensure the best possible wine quality.
Hahndorf Hill Winery is rated as a 4.5 Star Winery by James Halliday, and their wines consistently achieve ratings in the 90+ point range.
